Welcome!

Welcome to Josh and Emily’s portion of steelefamilyonline.net! You can follow the links above to navigate the site and to the right to explore some of our favorite places on the web. A guess a little bit about us is in order:

JoshJosh is a software engineer at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab (JHU/APL, or better yet, just APL), in the Space Department. He primarily works on science planning software for the MESSENGER mission that APL runs. He has also worked on APL’s New Horizons mission for a short time, in addition to a few other things in almost 6 years at the lab. He spends most of his days coding in Java on his MacBook Pro, and is also in charge of configuration management for a few libraries and project in his group.

Josh also plays PC computer games, such as Company of Heroes, TF2, Age of Empires 3, and others. He is part of a group of people who regularly play online twice a week. He also has some console (PS2, Wii) games, and recently got a few new games for the Wii.

Josh is also a Hokie (BS Physics ‘97, MS Comp Sci ‘02) and a Tarheel (MS Physics ‘99) and is a great fan of VT Football and UNC basketball.

More on Josh’s work can be found on the Josh’s Work page!

Finally, Josh is married to Emily (duh) and has 2 sons, Noah and Daniel

Emily Emily is a stay at home mom (watching Noah and Daniel), but is very active in several online communities and message boards relating to parenting, Signing Time, and various other areas. If Emily is not reading, she is either asleep. Or driving.

Emily is also an avid scrapbooker and also does cross stich and various other craft related activities.

Emily also likes to play games on her PC, some online, some not, but mostly ones different from Josh. She does however play Age of Empires (any version) with Josh from time to time.

Emily is married to Josh (duh) and has 2 sons, Noah and Daniel (again, duh).

NoahNoah is our first son, born in 2004. Among other feats, he knows sign language and probably communicates at a level several years ahead of his age.

He goes to preschool at a local cooperative school, where he loves to paint, play with toys, and listen to stories. (Mom and Dad both help with the school).

He loves trucks, cars, trains, farms and farm animals, and many Disney shows such as Mickey’s Clubhouse, Handy Manny, and Little Einsteins. He also has a pretty good aptitude for music, and is just starting to express quite an imagination.

DanielDaniel is our 2nd son, who came to us in September 2007. He gave his mother a hell of ride, with morning sickness throughout the whole pregnancy. He is doing fine, and is a fan of sleeping, eating, filling his diaper, and spitting up.

He is eating way more baby food - in WAY more variety - than his bigger brother ever did, and loves to coo through the day. He also loves his feet.
